{"id":13,"date":"2009-03-11T10:07:36","date_gmt":"2009-03-11T14:07:36","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.pinnacleeg.com\/iso\/2009\/03\/11\/ohsas-18001-iso-14001-and-the-aiag\/"},"modified":"2015-04-08T16:39:27","modified_gmt":"2015-04-08T16:39:27","slug":"ohsas-18001-iso-14001-and-the-aiag","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.pinnacleeg.com\/iso\/ohsas-18001-iso-14001-and-the-aiag\/","title":{"rendered":"OHSAS 18001, ISO 14001 &#038; AIAG"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>On February 24, 2009 the AIAG (Automotive Industry Action Group) issued a formal statement, e-mailed to all of its members, endorsing the implementation of a formal <a href=\"http:\/\/www.pinnacleeg.com\/ISO-14000-14001-Training-Consulting.php\/page\/services\/service\/environmental-management-systems-EMS\">environmental management system (EMS)<\/a>\u00a0 based on <a href=\"http:\/\/www.pinnacleeg.com\/ISO-14000-14001-Training-Consulting.php\/page\/services\/service\/environmental-management-systems-EMS\">ISO 14001<\/a>. \u00a0 Fortunately, unlike Toyota and some other customers, they stopped short of requiring it of automotive suppliers.\u00a0 They then went on to discourage the use of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.pinnacleeg.com\/shp-occupational-health-and-safety-management-systems-OHS.php\/page\/services\/service\/occupational-health-and-safety-management-systems-OHS\">OHSAS 18001<\/a> as a stand alone <a href=\"http:\/\/www.pinnacleeg.com\/shp-occupational-health-and-safety-management-systems-OHS.php\/page\/services\/service\/occupational-health-and-safety-management-systems-OHS\">occupational health &amp; safety management system (OHSMS)<\/a>.\u00a0 In the e-mail they state that the AIAG believes<em> &#8220;that the management of health &amp; safety under the BSI OHSAS 18001 program is good practice, but less efficient in terms of both cost and time, as compared to managing health &amp; safety as part of an existing management system.
